As soon as spring brings a new growth of bushes and berries, bears start feeding. They eat and eat. All through the spring and summer their feeding goes on. The bears build themselves up. They store food and fats that they will need in the fall when they start their long sleep.
As days grow shorter, and the temperature begins to fall, bears hunt for a sleeping place. It may be a shallow cave, or a deep crack between rocks. Some bears end up sleeping in hollow logs. Logs seem to be bears’ favourite places. Bears seem to choose small spaces. They can keep warmer in a cave that’s just large enough to hold them than in a larger cave. They often line their sleeping place with leaves and dried grass.
All through their winter naps, bears will not eat. Often they will sleep for 7 months, moving only now and then.
Задание 1 (Task 1) - это чтение вслух научно-популярного текста. Дается 1,5 минуты на подготовку. Вы должны быстро прочесть текст про себя, затем отдельно проговорить все незнакомые, сложные или длинные слова несколько раз. Затем по сигналу начинаете выразительно читать в среднем разговорном темпе. Читайте неторопливо, но непрерывно. Торопиться незачем, на чтение дается 1,5 минуты, этого более чем достаточно.
Task 2. Study the advertisement.
You are going to study abroad for three months and want to find a swimming pool
you could attend. You’d like to get more information about this swimming pool. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask five questions to find out the following:
Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.
Задание 2 (Task 2). На монитор будет выведена реклама какого либо мероприятия или заведения. Ваша задача - задать 5 уточняющих вопросов. План, о чем вы хотите узнать, также будет на мониторе, им нужно воспользоваться, как зрительной опорой.
То есть вы должны просто грамотно перефразировать данные утверждения в вопросы правильного типа. Обязательно повторите порядок слов Общего и Специального вопросов и активнее пользуйтесь страдательным залогом. На подготовку дается 1,5 минуты, каждый ответ вы произносите в течение 20 секунд.
Задание 3 (Task 3). На монитор выводятся три фотографии. Вы должны выбрать одну из них и подробно описать. Также необходимо аргументировать свой выбор и рассказать, где и когда было снято фото.
Например:
1) location of the swimming pool Where is the swimming pool located/situated?
2) opening hours When/What time is it opened/does it work?
3) sauna availability Is a sauna available/Can we use a sauna?
4) price for 3 months How much does three months attendance/using cost?
5) discounts for students Do you offer/have /Are there any discounts for students?
Task 3. Imagine that you are showing your photo album to your friend. Choose one photo to present to your friend. You will have to start speaking in 1.5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes. You have to talk continuously.
In your talk remember to speak about:
when and where the photo was taken
what/who is in the photo
what is happening
why you keep the photo in your album
why you decided to show the picture to your friend

Обязательно опирайтесь на предложенный план! Используйте его не только для построения содержания вашего высказывания, но также и как модель предложения (здесь дан не только порядок слов, но и указаны необходимые глагольные времена). На подготовку дается 1,5 минуты, а на сам ответ 2 минуты. Если не делать больших пауз и говорить в среднем темпе - этого времени будет достаточно.
Задание 4 (Task 4). Здесь на монитор выводятся две фотографии, и вы должны дать их сравнительное описание. Примерный план описания также будет на мониторе к качестве зрительной опоры. Внимательно прочтите его - он даст вам идеи, в чем искать сходство и различие изображенных ситуаций. На подготовку отводится 1,5 минуты, на устный ответ - 2 минуты.
Например:
1). Well, I would like to compare and contrast the photos which are presented here.Obviously, both photos are related to the same theme. It is ... /In both photos there are/we can see...
2). Let me start with the first photo which shows ... As for the second photo, it shows ... /we can see...
3). The photos have little/much in common. The only/main similarity is that they show ...
4). Obviously, there are a lot of/little differences. The first photo shows ... but, in contrast/while, the second one shows ... Besides/And what's more, ... in the first photo ... whereas/at he same time in the second one ... Finally, ... is different. ... of the first photo are contrasted to ... of the second one.
5). Personally/As for me, I would certainly prefer ... Здесь надо выказать предпочтение к изображенным занятиям/вещам, а не к самому фото. More than that/moreover, ... А потом мотивировать, почему.
6). In conclusion/All in all, I would like to say that both pictures make us think about ... but in a different way.
7). I have come to the end of my talk, thank you for listening/That's all I wanted to say about it, thank you/That's where I'd like to end.
Task 4. Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:
· give a brief description (action, location)
· say what the pictures have in common
· say in what way the pictures are different
· say which kind of ... you’d prefer for ...
· explain why
You will speak for not more than 2 minutes. You have to talk continuously.
Здесь, точно также, как и в предыдущем задании, необходимо пользоваться фразами плана, как основой для построения предложений. Не забывайте про порядок слов и глагольные времена (если описываешь происходящее на картинке, то обязательно использование не только Present Simple, но и Present Continuous, а также хорошо бы Present Perfect, но это по ситуации).
